Learn to specify environmentally friendly computer desktop, notebook, and monitor equipment and integrated systems. Created under an EPA grant, EPEAT is being adopted by various states and large institutional purchasers. Pennsylvania’s Department of General Services Procurement Department and Penn State University have begun using EPEAT. Manufacturers must register their products and meet up to 51 environmental criteria to achieve Bronze, Silver, or Gold ratings. All major manufacturers participate and make EPEAT registered products available at no increase in price. The workshop explains how to use EPEAT and also includes an environmental calculator to determine reductions in energy usage, Greenhouse gas emissions, municipal solid waste, hazardous wastes, and toxic materials.
