January: Beware the phantom!

Even when they’re turned off, appliances and electronics that are plugged in draw energy – known as phantom load. Unplug them to save energy.

February: Eliminate your paper paystub

Nearly all faculty and staff at Penn State Harrisburg receive a paper record of their paycheck deposit.  Penn State employees may opt out of receiving a paper copy and instead utilize the electronic version available through ESSIC.  If all employees University- wide did so, Penn State would reduce paper consumption by more than one ton, saving an estimated 30 trees over the course of one year!1

To go paperless, log onto ESSIC and change the preference for your deposit remittance.
