Presenter to discuss risk management and ethics

March 1, 2010

One of the nation’s leading authorities on risk management, Carl Pritchard, will discuss the connection between risk and risk ethics in business when the Keystone Chapter of the Project Management Institute meets Wednesday, April 21 at Penn State Harrisburg.

The 6 p.m. networking session followed by the 6:30 lecture in the college’s Olmsted Auditorium are free and open to the public. For information, contact Lisa Marie Smith at 717-608-9813.

In his presentation, Pritchard will look at the challenges associated with risk ethics since “the interpretation of terms, values, and right and wrong are often determined on an ad hoc basis.” He will lay out three questions which can be asked in any situation whether risk lines are being crossed while giving members of the audience an opportunity to determine whether or not they are “risk ethical.”

Pritchard is the principal and founder of Pritchard Management Associates and is a recognized as a leading authority on risk management. As an author and researcher, he served as lead author for the risk management chapter of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge and has crafted papers comparing international standards and risk practices.
