Thirty-six undergraduate and graduate students in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration have achieved excellence in their studies and earned membership invitations to Beta Gamma Sigma, the national business honor society.

To achieve membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, students must rank academically in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate or top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Beta Gamma Sigma was founded to encourage and honor academic achievement and personal excellence in the study and practice of business. With AACSB’s international focus, Beta Gamma Sigma now has collegiate chapters on five continents.

In addition to the student inductees, E. Philip Wenger, president and chief operating officer of Fulton Financial Corporation, was named the Penn State Harrisburg chapter’s 2010 distinguished honoree.

Wenger, who earned an M.B.A. from Penn State Harrisburg in 1987, joined Fulton Bank in 1979 and assumed various roles in the corporate lending area before being promoted to executive vice president of corporate banking in 1996. In 2001, he was named senior executive vice president of the Lancaster, York, and Chester Counties Division and in 2003 was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Fulton Bank.

In 2006, he was named chairman and chief executive officer of Fulton Bank and senior executive vice president of Fulton Financial Corporation, the parent company of Fulton Bank. He was named to his present position in December 2008.
