Governance

The Director of ITS @ PSH, Dr. John Hoh, reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Hoh meets monthly with the Information Systems and Technology Committee. ITS @ PSH is associated with ITS @ UP, and conforms with all relevant computing policies within the University system.

University-Wide Computing Policies

University-wide policies and guidelines for IT, including AD20, are available here.

PSH-Specific Computing Policies

A series of policies were approved in January 2008 by the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Significant policies include:

  • ITS supports University-owned computers and University-licensed software in support of University business only. We do not support privately owned computers, privately-licensed software, nor uses not related to University business. (Exception: we will support privately owned laptops, but ONLY to the extent required to assist with connecting them to the PSH wireless network.)
  • All software and hardware acquisitions must have approval from School Directors, Budget Administrators, and/or Project Administrators, and must be made in consultation with ITS.
  • Administrative rights on computers are not granted to faculty or non-ITS staff.
  • All requests for installations of Classroom or Computer Lab software must be made at least 30 days prior to need.
  • All software must be licensed, legal, and compatible with PSH hardware and software; ITS reserves the right to review all software for security and compatibility reasons, and to refuse to install any software which represents a security or compatibility problem.
  • Passwords may not be shared at any time with anyone, including ITS staff.
